Planning ahead for dental care can help you avoid surprises and make the most of your benefits. Delta Dental’s online cost planning tool—available through your Delta Dental member portal—lets you estimate how much you’ll pay for common dental procedures before you schedule them.

Whether you’re comparing fees among dentists or budgeting for upcoming care, this tool gives you personalized cost estimates based on your specific plan and location. It’s a smart way to make informed decisions and avoid unexpected bills.

How to Use the Delta Dental Cost Planning Tool

1. Go to the Delta Dental website
Visit www.deltadentalins.com.

2. Log in to your member account
Click “Log In” in the upper right corner. Enter your username and password.

3. Complete two-factor authentication
Delta Dental will send a verification code to your phone. Enter the code in the prompt to continue.

4. Access the cost planning tool
Once logged in, look at the menu on the left side of the screen and click “Plan for Your Costs.”

5. Choose the patient
You’ll see a list of covered individuals—yourself and any dependents. Click the “Estimate Costs” button next to the person you want to get an estimate for.

6. Continue to the estimator
A message will appear saying you’re leaving the Delta Dental website. Click “Continue to Cost Estimator.”

7. Log in again
You’ll be prompted to enter your Delta Dental username once more.

8. Fill out the cost estimator form
On the “Cost Matters” screen, complete the following fields:

  • Treatment Type: Select a procedure from the dropdown (e.g., crown).
  • Treatment Specification (if prompted): Choose details like “baby tooth” or “permanent tooth.”
  • ZIP Code: Enter your ZIP Code to localize the estimate.
  • Dentist’s Last Name (optional): Enter if you want to compare costs for a specific provider.

9. Submit and accept terms
Click “Submit” and then “Accept” to agree to the tool’s terms of use.

10. View your results
You’ll see a cost estimate showing:

  • A range of in-network charges (e.g., $786–$1,043 for a crown)
  • The cost without insurance for comparison

11. Get another estimate
Use the “Get a New Estimate” button to start over for a different procedure or patient.
