ACERA to disclose limited retiree data in public records request July 8, 2011 -
During the June 16, 2011 meeting of ACERA's Board of Retirement, the
Board resolved to respond to the latest Public Records Act (PRA)
requests that ACERA has received from the Bay Area News Group and its
subsidiary the Contra Costa Times regarding the specific benefits that
ACERA's retirees and beneficiaries receive. The recent appellate court
decisions in Sacramento
County Employees' Retirement System v. Superior Court,
Case No. C065730 and San Diego County
Employees' Retirement Association v. Superior Court,
Case
No. D058962, represent rulings by two courts of competent jurisdiction
finding that the information requested by the Bay Area News Group is
subject to public disclosure. Prior to these two decisions, ACERA had
considered this information exempt from public disclosure.
With this news update, the Board is providing notice to ACERA's members of what will be disclosed. ACERA will release the following. ACERA Retirees
ACERA Beneficiaries receiving monthly allowances
