Here at ACERA, we encourage all members to attend a Retirement Seminar
to obtain information regarding retirement benefits and
options. Read below to see which seminar is best suited for
you.New Employee Seminar: For ACERA members with less than 5 years of service, learn what you need to know to prepare for retirement, when you become eligible for retirement, what to expect after retirement, the benefits of ACERA membership, what your options are if you leave employment, and more. Mid-Career Seminar: Planning to work for Alameda County or an ACERA Participating Employer until you retire? ACERA will provide tell you about what it means to be a vested member and to participate in a defined benefit plan. Well also present information on reciprocal retirement agency benefits, service purchases, re-deposits, termination options, and benefit formula components. Pre-Retirement Seminar: Planning to retire within the next four years? ACERA reviews your retirement benefit formula, retirement allowance options, retirement application process, and post retirement benefits, including health, dental, vision, and death benefits. Pre-Retirement Seminar [2 MB PDF]
Mid-Career Seminar [1 MB PDF] New Employee Seminar [1 MB PDF] Medicare Transition: ACERA will explain and assist you with the transition from your ACERA pre-Medicare medical plan into one of the Medicare medical plans offered by ACERA. Members who will be turning age 65 within 60 days prior to the seminar will receive an invitation to attend this informative session and learn more about ACERAs Medicare mandate and what plan choices are available to them.
