Robert Gaumer, Chief Counsel

Mr. Gaumer joined ACERA in 2005 as Associate Counsel, and was appointed to Chief Counsel in 2007. 

As Chief Counsel, Mr. Gaumer works closely with the Board by conducting legal research of complex pension issues and formulating policies and bylaws. He makes recommendations to the Board on governance matters, such as the Fair Political Practices Commission Conflict of Interest reporting requirements and the Ralph M. Brown Act Open Public Meeting laws.

Mr. Gaumer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, and received his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University.

Robert is married and is the father of 2.  His hobbies include coaching his kids in their sports activities.
