Betty Tse, Chief Investment Officer
In 1999, Betty Tse, a California Certified Public Accountant (CPA), responded to an ACERA advertisement in the Wall Street Journal for an investment analyst; she was hired to fill that position after successfully competing in Alameda County’s standardized application process. She was promoted to the position of Investment Officer that same year. In 2002, she became ACERA’s first Chief Investment Officer; prior to this position the Investment Department was managed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Today, Ms. Tse manages and oversees ACERA’s $5.1 billion dollar investment portfolio. She is also a primary resource for the CEO and the staff liaison to the Board of Retirement.
Ms. Tse is an active community member and serves on the Investment Committee of the Girl Scouts of the Bay Area, the Finance Committee of the YMCA of the East Bay, the Board of Tri-Valley YMCA, and the Board of Las Positas College Foundation. She is a sitting adult member of the City of Pleasanton Youth Commission, an advisory body to the Pleasanton City Council on Pleasanton youth-related issues. Ms. Tse also enjoys singing with her husband, Gabe Kralik, in their church choir.
Ms. Tse hails from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. She earned an associate’s degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and was awarded a two-year full-tuition scholarship toward her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Ms. Tse graduated cum laude from both institutions. She also has a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from the California State University, East Bay.
While Betty and Gabe live in Pleasanton, California, her parents and two siblings reside in Vancouver, Canada.
