First appointed by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to the ACERA Board of Retirement in 2003.  Ms. Basgal currently is the chair of the Actuarial Committee, and a member of the Operations, Investment and Governance Committees.

Ms. Basgal served as the executive director of the Housing Authority of Alameda County beginning May 1978.  She assumed the position of vice president of civic partnership and community initiatives at Pacific Gas and Electric Company in September 2005 and is responsible for the company's $18.6 million charitable contributions program, employee volunteerism for PG&E's 20,000 employees and the community's community engagement programs. 

Ms. Basgal is a board member of the University of California Puente Program, and the California Supreme Court Historical Society, where she serves as vice-president.
