Keith Carson currently chairs ACERA’s Investment Committee, and is a member of the Operations, Audit, Actuarial, and By-laws Committees.

Mr. Carson was appointed to the ACERA Board of Retirement in 2001; he replaced Wilma Chan as the Alameda County Board of Supervisors member appointed to the ACERA Board.

In 1992, Mr. Carson was elected to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors on a platform dedicated to inclusive and accessible government. He represents the 5th District that includes Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont and large portions of Oakland, namely West Oakland, North Oakland (Rockridge and Montclair), and portions of the Fruitvale, Dimond, and San Antonio districts. Supervisor Carson works to bring together people who have a wealth of talent and creative resources to address our shared problems within numerous areas, including access to health care, ending poverty, homelessness, crime, improving business retention, and addressing the scarcity of jobs in our communities.

Mr. Carson chairs the Alameda County East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay EDA) and the Finance Committee for the Bay Area World Trade Center (BAWTC). He is also is a member of the following organizations: Board of Directors for the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) -- a 58 county statewide supervisor’s organization; the Board of Directors for the Bay Area Economic Forum; the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA); and the Alameda County Waste Management Authority.

He has attended the John F. Kennedy School of Law and earned a Master of Public Administration from California State East Bay and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. Keith is married to Maria Carson and is the father of two adult children; he also has three grandchildren.  He hails from Berkeley.
