Alameda
County Supervisor Keith Carson is currently 1st
Vice-Chair of the
ACERA Board Officers. He
is Vice-Chair
of the Evaluation Committee, and is a member of the Investment,
Retirees,
Actuarial, Audit, and By-laws Committees. He was appointed to the ACERA
Board
of Retirement in 2001.
In
1992,
Supervisor Keith Carson was elected to the Alameda County Board of
Supervisors,
5th District on a platform dedicated to inclusive and accessible
government. He
represents the 5th District that includes Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville,
Piedmont, and large portions of Oakland, namely West Oakland, North
Oakland
(Rockridge and Montclair), and portions of the Fruitvale, Dimond, and
San
Antonio districts. Supervisor Carson works to bring together people who
have a
wealth of talent and creative resources to address our shared problems
within
numerous areas, including access to health care, ending poverty,
homelessness,
crime, improving business retention, and addressing the scarcity of
jobs in our
communities.
Supervisor
Carson chairs several Alameda County committees and organizations
including:
the Alameda County East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay
EDA), the
Budget Work Group and the Personnel, Administration, and Legislation
Committee.
He is also a member of several Boards of Directors for numerous
organizations
including: the California State Association of Counties (CSAC), a
58-county statewide
supervisor’s organization; the National Association of Counties (NACO);
the Bay
Area Council Economic Institute; the Alameda County Transportation
Commission
(ACTC); and the Alameda County Waste Management Authority.
He attended
the John F. Kennedy School of Law and earned a Master of Public
Administration
from California State East Bay and a bachelor’s degree in Political
Science and
Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. Keith is married to Maria
Carson and is the
father of two adult children; he also has three grandchildren. He hails from Berkeley.
