George J. Dewey

George Dewey is the second vice-chair of the Board Officers, vice-chair of the Retirees, and Investment Committees and serves as a member of the By-Laws Committee.

Mr. Dewey previously worked as a Managing Director in RBS Securities' Leveraged Finance Group. In this role he coordinated the firm's resources to provide financing and M&A advisory to private equity sponsors on the west coast.  His clients include TPG, Hellman and Friedman, Golden Gate, Calera Partners, Brentwood and Clearlight among other west coast names.

Previously he was a Director in Citigroup's Investment Banking Department (relocated to the San Francisco office in 2001) where he focused on providing investment banking services to private equity funds. His client list included; Francisco Partners, Golden Gate, Aurora Capital, Fremont Partners, Weston Presidio, Freidman, Fleischer, Lowe, Gores, Gryphon, Jordan, Global Innovation Partners and Summit. Additionally, he covered a number of west coast corporate names such as Nike, Petco, Starbucks, Sharper Image, and Leap Frog.

Prior to his transfer to Citigroup on the west coast, Mr. Dewey worked as a Vice President in Salomon Smith Barney's Financial Entrepreneurs Group in New York (Investment Banking Group - focused on Private Equity funds) from 1998 to 2001. In this capacity, Mr. Dewey worked with various private equity funds, both large and small, (KKR, T.H. Lee, Oakhill, Harvest, American Securities, Hicks Muse and Fox Paine) in a wide variety of strategic and capital-raising assignments.

From 1996 to 1998, he worked in the Acquisition Finance Department of Citicorp Securities, during which time he specialized in providing financing solutions for clients in the private equity industry and their portfolio companies. He was also previously employed as an Assistant Vice President with PaineWebber incorporated (1989 to 1996), where he structured housing and general infrastructure bonds for state and local governments including; Minnesota HFA, Connecticut HFA, Iowa Fin. Auth., Atlantic County Improvement Authority.

Mr. Dewey graduated from Vassar College in 1988 (BA - Economics) and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1994.


Mr. Dewey is also very committed to community and serves as a board member of the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area. For 5 years he served as the Chair of the Mentoring Committee and during his tenure in this role he helped over 115 students get into college. He is an active mentor to both students and business professionals in the bay area.
